Precursor Lists

Since 2017, I have assembled lists of films that have received various awards and nominations leading up to the Oscars. This includes the bigger award shows like the Golden Globes, SAG, BAFTA, and Critics’ Choice as well as the slew of smaller critics groups that hand out end-of-the-year awards.

The contenders are ranked in a loose order based on the number of nominations and wins earned, with the eventual Oscar winner automatically placed at no. 1. There can be situations where an awards group nominates a film/contender that isn’t ultimately submitted at the Oscars, in which case I will delete them from the list after the official Academy eligibility list is released in December or January.
